A single family home is considered to be a single unit residential structure where there is open space on all four sides of the home and it is not attached to any other residential structure. A single family home is usually separated from any other structures that may have walls and where the walls are usually extended from the ground to the roof. A single family home is usually occupied by one individual family or household.


There can be some advantages to owning a single family home. Some of the advantages to owning a single family home could be that you will have access to your own yard; no having to share your yard with anyone else in the neighborhood. A single family home is usually larger in size and there can be room for expanding the size of your home, whether you want to build out or build up. A single family home offers more storage opportunities such as in a garage, attic or basement. Finally, it is usually easier to gain the financing of owning a single family home compared to other home types as long as you have the right credentials that are needed in the home buying process.
